For starters in the summer, the playground at Ventura Park is being renovated with new and different playground equipment, a new Portland Loo and some additional art work. This work will be done during July and August.
Currently, the plan is to shift the summer program to the area closer to Ventura Park Elementary. The program will be available 5-days a week and includes lunches.
Ventura Park will be hosting the Slavic Festival on July 22nd and 23rd. Come and spend some time on that weekend with our Slavic neighbors. It will be a chance to see Slavic culture up close without leaving Portland.
Hazelwood is getting ready for concerts in Ventura Park on the first four Wednesdays in August. he line-up includes:
- Chervona, 8/2 Eastern European Carnival Insanity
- Okaidja Afroso, 8/9 African World Music and Dance

Just a reminder: one of the Portland Bureau of Transportation Sunday Parkways will happen on August 20 in outer northeast Portland. The route will include Knott, Thompson, East Holladay parks and Hazelwood Hydropark.
Finally, a reminder that the Portland Parks & Recreation “Summer Free For All” schedule of events is on-line at: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/61921. Check it out.
