The meeting was called to order at 6:30 by Ed Clark.
Those attending the meeting included board members Ed Clark, Alice Blatt, Ed Zarens, and Joyce Ley. Others attending were Dan Breckel, Joanne Kraft, Portland (East Precinct) Police Officer Steve Albert, Portland (North Precinct) Police Officer, Brad Kula, Kim Breckel, Bette Thompson, Jim Grant, Richard Bixby, Alia & Tim Gustafson, Bob Trappe, and Ian and Sally Timm.
Motion made by Alice Blatt and seconded by Ed Clark to approve the minutes for the March 1, 2011 meeting was carried.
The Treasurer’s Report presented by Alice Blatt referenced the April 5, 2011 balance sheet issued by East Portland Neighborhood Office that shows a current balance of $850.75.
Police Report: Officers indicated that the burglary task force is reporting a favorable trend. Gang related problems are greater than domestic issues. The parking lot at the corner of 148th Avenue and Halsey Street has recurring incidents of auto break-ins while joggers are away from their vehicles.
Shirley Craddick, Metro Councilor, will be guest speaker at the June 7, 2011 meeting.
Construction of NE Fremont/Green - Swales between 156th and 158th is expected by mid-summer.
Launch site at 165 th and Airport Way has a new structure in progress.
Rod Monroe town hall meeting on redistricting is scheduled at Mt. Hood Community College on April 9, 2011 from 9:00 to Noon in Roam 1710.
Rebuilding the south runway (third and final phase of runway rehab program) is scheduled from April 4 through early October.
Multi-neighborhood spring Clean-up will take place Saturday, May 14, 2011 (122nd and East Burnside 9:00 am to 1:00 pm).
In response to a request to have a special meeting for discussion of the process and training available for Neighborhood Watch Program, Joyce Ley moved, and Ed Zarens seconded that the May meeting focus on this request. Discussion on the acquisition of the Wilkes Creek Headwater park area will be postponed until the September 2011 meeting. Motion carried.
Richard Bixby announced that a survey on health issues, conducted by Multnomah County Health Department, will be circulated via email.
Ian Timm (Hollywood Neighborhood Emergency Team-NET) presented information on earthquake preparedness. Mr. Timm presented maps showing earthquake hazards for the Portland area. He addressed main hazards that exist, what we as citizens can do, and what we can do to prepare our homes for earthquake emergencies. He explained the value of having a NET, neighborhood emergency team that can be organized by networks of fire station districts. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm. The next meeting will be a general meeting on May 3, 2011 at 6:30 pm.
